At first, I chose “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” among the 8 movies.
Core themes: adventure fantasy, family comedy
It is a musical adventure film full of fantasy, which makes me very interested. I have always liked this subject very much.
Later, I watched this movie. I think the father in the movie is a very interesting character. I want to design his costume in the first funny scene as a character for him, so the first character is the father. I also found a lot of retro flight suits for reference.
The second character is a child. I want to change this movie into a family fantasy animation, so I researched the costumes of early British children as a reference for my design of children.
The overall direction of animation
The animation as a whole is a family adventure animation.
The whole animation is composed of music, fantasy and fairy tales.
The tone of style
Exaggeration > Real, fairy tale world, outstanding style
Music enhances the rhythm of animation.
- In the course, the teacher taught us how to light up in a scene, which plays an important role in my subsequent painting scenes.
- I am also weak in the training of body exercises, so I think it is very useful.
- Next, when designing the scene, I researched the design style of “Teacup Head”. I think it is very suitable for the racing props in my scene, so I referred to the design style of the racing car in “Teacup Head”.
The second exterior scene design of the castle, when I was designing, I wanted to design a perspective with strong visual effects. I drew two sketches and finally chose the following one as my second scene.

- This is the synopsis of my story.
My father was an inventor with little achievements. One day, on his way home, he found an abandoned old car wrapped in burlap. He pulled the car home and repaired it with his son, and unexpectedly found that it had the ability to fly and navigate. After the father and son have the flying universal car, they make their ordinary life full of imagination and joy. In an adventure, they came to the Kingdom of Valgaria, where children’s freedom and happiness were prohibited. The flying universal car was taken away by the king, and the son was also arrested. The father felt powerless for the first time. In the face of unfair rules, the child plucked up the courage to resist. The father lurked into the castle and took back the flying universal car to save his son and those innocent children. Finally, with the power of imagination and unity, the flying universal car flew into the sky again, regaining freedom and hope with his son and the rescued children. The king could only watch them fly to the free sky from afar.
The teachers of the whole project helped me a lot and gave me a lot of good advice to make my thinking clearer when completing this project. The teacher will also correct my problems in time.
